Name: Community Integration Program

Number of consumers: 5; ages: 20-60 years old

Diagnoses: Multiple handicaps (cerebral palsy, mental retardation, autism etc.)

Program Description: Consumers have as much input into their daily activities as possible by planning their daily outings and activities. The program promotes a greater sense of understanding within the community that establishes natural relationships while providing meaningful experiences and adventures. Giving back to the community is encouraged by volunteering on a weekly basis through various local agencies. Consumers are supported with full supervision and assistance the entire time they are at the Center as well as when in the community.

  • High staff to consumer ratio to provide individualized services

  • High level of staff expertise with consumers having physical and behavioral challenges

  • Flexibility in programming to provide the best experience for the individual

  • Consistent involvement and communication with families, guardians, residences and state agencies to enhance the consumer’s lives

Special Points:

  • Considered a non-traditional program that caters to the special needs of individual consumers
  • Consumers are provided with a unique opportunity to experience their community through volunteerism and work opportunities.
