Intake and Referral Process

The intake and referral process for the Morrison Center is contingent on the type of service that an individual is seeking.

The primary contact person for intakes at MDC is Gwen Sartoris, Assistant Director. She can be reached at

(207) 883-6680 or via EMAIL, or information can be

mailed to Morrison Center at PO Box 1539, Scarborough

ME 04070-1539.

Individuals applying for MDC’s Preschool program need to have a referral from Child Development Services.

Individuals applying to MDC’s School program need to go through their local school district.

Individuals applying to MDC’s adult programs (AHEAD, Seedling and Community Integration Programs) need to have a referral from Department of Health and Human Services and be eligible for Mainecare.

Once a referral is received an application needs to be completed and releases of information signed. Individuals will then be asked to provide MDC with information in order to help MDC determine whether they are appropriate for the desired service.

Interviews and visits will be set up to observe the applicant and determine eligibility. Once eligibility is determined and funding is secured, arrangements will be made for entrance into the desired program.
